CONDISOBS is led by Dr Lorenzo Vianelli, who is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Luxembourg since January 2020.

Lorenzo obtained his PhD at the University of Warwick (UK) in 2018. His thesis – Governing Asylum Seekers. Logistics, Differentiation, and Failure in the European Union’s Reception Regime – employs Foucauldian analytical tools to explore the multiple and contested ways through which asylum seekers are governed through reception in diverse contexts in the EU. After the PhD, he was involved in the H2020 project CEASEVAL, in which he carried out a study of the Luxembourgish reception system. He was also a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Exeter (UK), where he was involved in the ERC-funded project ASYFAIR on the fairness and consistency of asylum adjudication processes in several EU countries.
