Contain, Distribute, Obstruct. Governing the Mobility of Asylum Seekers in the European Union

CONDISOBS explores three key measures that were undertaken after the so-called “refugee crisis” to govern asylum seekers’ mobility in the EU, which is to say hotspots, relocation schemes and border controls. The main objective of the study is to understand whether these measures have succeded in controlling the mobility of incoming migrants and discouraging “secondary movements” within the EU.

CONDISOBS is a two-year project (January 2020-January 2022), which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 838722.

The principal investigator of the project is Dr Lorenzo Vianelli, Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Luxembourg, Department of Geography and Spatial Planning
